The big Gala (show) of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife The spectacular queens are the most popular picture of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Each year, candidates fight during a spectacular 'gala' of Choice of the Queen, for the most wished sceptre of the carnival. Each municipality celebrates in its carnival the Election of the Queen for its own, but Election of the Carnival Queen of Santa Cruz, is still the most followed. All the candidates dress fabulous costumes, called 'Fancies', whose performance are attended by a great number of people.
